Virginia Lee Hunter is a photographer based in St Louis Missouri. For the past 16 years she has been an editorial photographer working with national and international magazines and newspapers in Los Angeles. For 11 of those years she was a contributing photographer to the legendary LA Weekly.

Originally from Missouri, her return from the west coast to the midwest was due in large part to her gaining interest in exploring 'Americana' through her photography and video stories.

In 2005 she teamed up with award winning Canadian filmmaker Alison Murray to make CARNY, a documentary inspired by Virginia's images of carny life. CARNY has screened in several festivals winning 'Best Documentary' at the International Brooklyn Film Festival. CARNY may be seen on The Sundance Channel, TV Ontario in Canada, and Channel 4(More4) in the United Kingdom. To view trailer, please click on 'CARNY DOCUMENTARY' link below.

Virginia earned a BFA in Photography from the Kansas City Art Institue in '83 and teaches documentary photography at University of Missouri St Louis. She continues to shoot for magazines and newspapers.
